What a bear it was to finish that last row! It had to be two layers deep, and each and every shingle had to be specially cut and eensy weensy. It's done now, though!
(Those who are especially observant will see a seemingly out-of-place block I placed on top of the metal flashing above the window. I'm using it as a temporary spacer.)
I'm done shingling the east side for now. I can't shingle up higher until I install the awning window. I can't install the window until the roofing is installed on the bumpout. I can't install the roofing on the bumpout until I install the roofing on the main part of the house (because I want to use leftover scraps on the bumpout). I can't install the roofing on the main part of the house until the vent holes are drilled through the roof. I can't drill holes through the roof until I know their precise locations. I won't know their precise locations until I have a plumber!
Can't start shingling the north side of the house because I don't know where to trim out the access panel for the electrical system. (The electrician says he will be here in a week or so.) Can't start shingling the west side of the house because the bumpout hasn't been built on that end yet. Can't build the bumpout until I finish the insulation and subfloor on that end. Can't finish the subfloor in the bathroom until I know the locations of plumbing waste lines. Won't know that until I have a plumber!
Gotta do some re-grouping. At least I did get a new recommendation for a plumber to pursue. Wish me luck!

Siding (East Wall) 8
My progress has slowed to a crawl these last few days. I'm up to the top two rows of shingles on the east bumpout; every shingle has to be custom cut to fit.
Here's a new row.
And another one.
Check out some of the custom cutting.
All that is left to do on this row is above the window. Maybe I can get it done in one day.

The Coast Guard has spent a bunch of time hanging out in front of my house. I think they've been doing something with the buoy out there. Moving it into its proper position, maybe?
In case you think George is black, here's proof that he's actually brown.
I like this shot of George sitting in front of the shingle cat.

Lots of rain yesterday. We needed it and, besides, it was Father's Day, so no construction was going to happen anyway. It was so humid today! The clay on the east side of the JayBee remained mucky all day, but at least that end is mostly out of the sun, making for a more pleasant working environment.
Two more rows...
Then another...
...and another.
One more row to top it off before tomorrow's rain moves in. Even with all the interwoven corners, the shingling does move along a lot quicker without a special design in the mix.

People have been asking about the cats. The cats are fine. No momentous shenanigans to report. Well, there was Bear's attack on my leg, but I provoked that by accidentally stepping on his tail. Bear was also climbing up the ladder behind me when I was shingling the gable peak on the south side, but I couldn't get any good pictures of that.
When George isn't outright sleeping or asking for pets and scratches, he mostly has his eyes half open.
And, then, there's Bear.

Got the next row done. I am now finished with decorative shingle designs! (Truly. I have no special designs planned for the north and west walls--just straight shingling.)
Quiz: What are illustrated in this decorative design? (Answer below.)
And another row done. Now I'm done up to the bottom of the east window.
Answer to quiz: On the left is a typha latifolia plant (commonly known as cattail); on the right is a loon. (Some people have been guessing it's a duck; close.) Coincidently, the day I was working on the loon shingles, a loon called loudly out on the river in front of my house all day. Haven't heard one since.

Look who was visiting my road this morning. This is egg-layin' time; it's amazing how far from the water she traveled to find some easy-to-dig sandy soil. She's a big 'un; her shell is about a foot in diameter.

Made more progress on the east end. Another course...
...and another.
Then I got set up for another row.
Hmm. Not so fast. I stood looking at this line of tape for quite a few minutes...with a what's-wrong-with-this-picture puzzlement...until I figured out that the previous row was not completely done because this is the row where the transition should occur--the transition in the design from pieces that extend down below each row to pieces that have the design cut out of them. That previous row needed another layer.
So, I added an extra layer to the row.
Then I was back where I started--ready for the next row--but the day was almost over.
I hustled and got this much of the row done before calling it quits.

Siding (East Wall) 2
The forecast said today would be sunny until 5:00 or so. Not so. I was so eager to work on the east end that I set up early and started working--assuming the clouds would clear off. Instead, it showered on and off all day. I just kept working anyway. I would get all damp, then dry out before the next shower.
Here is the starter course--the course that ends up completely hidden.
Then the real (visible) first course.
I cut the trim and shingles in the corners in order to keep the lights on the trailer visible.
Here's the second course. Yup, you guessed right. I have a special design planned for this side.
