Siding (East Wall) 1

All that work siding the south wall convinced me that I do not want to weave shingles on the inside corners around the bumpouts on the east and west ends. I added flashing on the inside and outside corners on the east end.

I cut 1" x 1" pieces of trim, stained them, and installed them on the inside corners.

Up next: More shingling!

South Wall Done! (Siding 18)

When I finished the next row of shingles, I was done with the vine design. Phew! (Anyone who may be considering doing some decorative shingling, I strongly recommend not doing a vertical design--unless you have a lot of time to devote to creating it.)

In order to work on the next rows, I had to change the ladder from its stepladder configuration to its extension configuration. Made me nervous and shaky. I do not like heights!

Got another row done.

And another one.

And another one.

Last. Row. Done.

I may be the slowest house builder on the planet, but I'm liking the results.

And... my body needs a few days of not climbing up and down a ladder a gazillion times.

Siding (South Wall) 17

I have been shingling between rain storms these last few days. I have been so grateful for the cooler temperatures, I haven't minded the rain.

Another course--the last one that goes from end to end--done!

Just the gable peak left to do.

Siding (South Wall) 15

During the rainy days, I stained more shingles. I had been wondering how I would ever get the last shingles stained, and the rain provided some opportunity. Unfortunately, I still have four big bundles of shingles left to stain.

When the sun came out, I went back to shingling.

The entryway is now completely shingled. Woo hoo!

I wish I could say I only have the gable peak left to shingle on the south side. Not true. I have to install two courses of shingles up under the eave. Of course they will all have to be custom cut. The stapler won't fit under the eave, so installation will be slow going.
